Scholarships History:

1.
Jeanne Linn Scholarship History: Jeanne Linn was looking for a way to benefit the community where she grew up. In her will, Ms. Linn directed that a substantial portion of her estate benefit Albany Public Schools Foundation on her death.

After Ms. Linn passed away in 1995, the Foundation received an endowment in the amount of $84,795. The income from this permanently restricted endowment fund provides two annual scholarships for one student from each high school. Every year students from West and South Albany High Schools each receive a $2,500 scholarship. These scholarships are paid over 4 years.

2.
Jean Brown Scholarship History: In her will, Jean Brown established the Teddy Brown Endowment in memory of her son, Teddy Brown. Teddy was an outstanding student at West Albany High School and was ranked fifth in the Northwest in tennis. At age fifteen, Teddy was killed in a car accident. On Mrs. Brown's passing, the Foundation received the $172,886 permanently restricted endowment in 2001. The income from this fund provides two annual scholarships for two West Albany High School students. Each student receives a $4,000 scholarship paid in four $1,000 annual installments.
3.
M. Grace Howell Scholarship History: M. Grace Howell established two $25,000 scholarship permanently restricted endowments in her will, which were received by the Foundation in 2003. The first endowment funds two annual scholarships for a student from each high school. Every year, a $500 scholarship is awarded to a student from West and South seeking a degree in teaching. The second endowment funds two $500 scholarships each year. Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma chooses the two student recipients.
