Fund Raising Events

The Albany Public Schools Foundation has concentrated its efforts in two successful area:
- classroom grants
- student scholarships
|
The foundation hosts two annual fund raising events to achieve the goals of our organization. They are:
- Eat and Run: September of each year the Foundation hosts a two day event. The first evening begins with a meal the day before the 5K run and walk. Funds are generated from corporate sponsorships, meal tickets and participation fees. Net proceeds are used to fund arts and activities grants through the classroom grants program. The Eat and Run event will be on September 17, 2010 for the eating portion and September 18, 2010 for the morning run/walk. Click here for more information on this event.
- February of each year, the Foundation hosts a Swim-A-Lap event. Students obtain pledges for this event and swim at South Albany Community Pool. Half of the funds raised in Swim-A-Lap go directly back to the schools of the swimmers. The other half of the funds go to the Foundation and are distributed through the classroom grants program. The Swim-a-Lap event will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 8:00-11:00 am at South Albany Community Pool. Click here for more information on this event.

- Swim-a-Lap event will be on Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 8:00-11:00 am. It will be held at South Albany Community Pool. We will have make-up days for swimmers who would like to participate but cannot attend the Saturday event. The make-up days are on Monday, March 1st and Wednesday, March 3rd from 7:00-8:00 pm at South Albany Community Pool.
- $40 in pledges collected by a student will earn them a Swim-a-Lap T-Shirt.
- Swimmers bring pledge sheets to the pool.
- Swimming takes only 20-30 minutes to complete 20 laps.
- After swimming their laps:
- Swimmers collect their pledge money and take it to their school.
- Make checks out to: APSF (Albany Public Schools Foundation)
- T-Shirts will be delivered to the students at their schools after all pledges have been collected. The student needs to collect $40 in pledges to receive a T-Shirt.
- 7th Annual Eat and Run Event will be on September 17, 2010 with appetizers at Sybaris' restaurant and on September 18, 2010 for the 5K run and walk event.
- On Friday, September 17, 2010 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Sybaris' restaurant, come and enjoy appetizers with the Albany Public Schools Foundation board members. Tickets are available for $5.00 at the door. (Sybaris' restaurant address is 442 1st Ave. SW, Albany, Oregon.)
- On Saturday, September 18, 2010 from 9:00-11:00 AM will be the 5K Run/Walk event starting at Ray's Food Place (621 Hickory Street NW). Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age category.
- Entry Fee: Pre-Registration (postmarked by 9/6/2009)
- $17.00 Adults
- $12.00 Youth
- Day of the race: $20.00 all ages
- Entry forms are available at locations throughout Albany, the Albany School District office, at Ray's on the day of the race, or on line at www.goodrace.com . You can drop off your from to the district office before the race or bring it with you on race day.
- Each participant receives a t-shirt
