Fund Raising Events

The Albany Public Schools Foundation has concentrated its efforts in two successful area:

  • classroom grants
  • student scholarships

The foundation hosts three annual fund raising events to achieve the goals of our organization. They are:

Eat and Run

  • Eat and Run: September of each year the Foundation hosts a two day event. The first evening begins with a meal the day before the 5K run and walk. Funds are generated from corporate sponsorships, meal tickets and participation fees. Net proceeds are used to fund arts and activities grants through the classroom grants program. The Eat and Run event will be on September 12, 2008 for the eating portion and September 13, 2008 for the morning run/walk.  Click here for more information on this event.

Swim-A-Lap

  • February of each year, the Foundation hosts a Swim-A-Lap event. Students obtain pledges for this event and swim at South Albany Community Pool. Half of the funds raised in Swim-A-Lap go directly back to the schools of the swimmers. The other half of the funds go to the Foundation and are distributed through the classroom grants program. The date for the Swim-a-Lap event will be posted soon. Click here for more information on this event.

Winterfest

  • Each year, the Foundation hosts the Winterfest event. This is a winterfest music celebration to help support the music programs in the Greater Albany Public Schools. The Winterfest event has a silent auction, vocal and instrumental performances by students in the Albany Public Schools, and features the musical talents of hired professionals. Last years event featured "Dallas Brass". Click here for more information on this event.

Albany

Winterfest

Celebration
and Silent Auction

Saturday, February 2, 2008
South Albany High School

Doors open at 6:00 PM

Winterfest is an event that raises funds in support of Albany Public Schools student musicians. The proceeds of the funds have gone to purchase sheet music and musical instruments. Students in our community who might not otherwise have that opportunity to participate in music programs, because of personal finances, have had instruments provided for them. Greater Albany Public Schools music programs continue to participate in community events as both bands and choirs have been requested to augment celebrations at area businesses.

Business owners have the opportunity to participate in Winterfest in a number of ways.
1. Platinum Sponsorship for Winterfest is $3,000.This underwrites a significant portion of the expense of the event, and maximizes the funds that are collected through ticket sales. Platinum sponsors receive publication in all of our Winterfest events, including all of our fliers, radio announcements and the night of the event.

2. Gold Sponsorship is available at $1,000. Gold sponsors are promoted in flyers and are mentioned most during radio announcements that we do, as well as the night of the event.

3. Silver Sponsorships is available at $500. Silver sponsors are also available to businesses who would like to support Albany student musicians. Silver sponsorships will be mentioned on flyer's and during radio publicity as well as the night of the event.

Finally, any contributions that you would like to make to our silent auction would be greatly appreciated. This may be an opportunity to promote goods and services provided by your business, as well as to participate in funding the Albany Public Schools music program. If you would like to donate to the silent auction, you can contact Laurie Geissler at lmg2021@comcast.net
